FIGURE GROUND - FALL 2015

[Bristol Vellum ; 1000H Vellum ; Sharpie ;  Graphite ; Watercolor ; Collage ; Charcoal ; Foam Core]

In order to derive Figure Grounds, I first created a photo collage that was then broken down into abstract components.  Frames of these components were then captured and used as Figure Grounds.  Selecting one, I then studied how the shapes could be redefined and explored in terms more broad than simply black and white.  For the final model, I focused on simplifying the complex connections and exploring the differences between dynamic and subtle movement.
